How is this different from drawing a black box?
Pages with marks are re-rendered as an image with the black areas burned in, so the original text underneath no longer exists in the file. Other pages stay untouched.
Can I still search the text on a redacted page?
No — precisely because the page was turned into an image. If you need it, run the result through OCR; the redacted parts stay black.
How do I redact the same data on every page?
Type it into the search box and click "Find and mark" — every occurrence in the whole document gets marked.
