How to sign a PDF without printing it

Print, sign, scan, send — that loop is no longer needed for most everyday documents.

Step by step

  1. Open the Sign PDF tool and choose the document.
  2. Draw your signature (with a finger on a phone), type your name or choose an image of your signature.
  3. Click "Place signature" and drag it onto the signature line. The corner of the box resizes it.
  4. Add a date and text (name, place) if needed, then save the signed PDF.

Is such a signature valid?

This is a simple electronic signature. For many documents — consent forms, quotes, internal forms — that's enough. For documents where a regulation or the other party requires a qualified electronic signature, you need a certificate from an accredited provider. If in doubt, ask whoever you're sending the document to.

Privacy

Your signature is personal data. On LokalPDF it isn't sent anywhere — it exists only in the open page's memory and disappears when you close it.

After signing, use "Continue with → Protect PDF" and disallow editing, so nobody can move your signature.
