    How do I leave the cover page unnumbered?

    Turn on "No number on the first page". The count still includes the cover, so the second page gets number 2 (or set the starting number).

    What if some pages are landscape?

    The number is placed according to how the page looks on screen, so on landscape and rotated pages it's always upright and in the right spot.
